In the gripping times of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020–21, countless families were besieged by fear, uncertainty, and despair. Economic disruption left millions unable to afford healthcare, even as their lives hung in the balance.
Amidst this crisis, the IQRA Dwij Foundation emerged as a beacon of hope. With years of work across education, livelihood, women empowerment, and healthcare, the Foundation quickly pivoted to address the unfolding medical emergency.
Understanding that access to healthcare was critical, especially for families already living on the margins, the Foundation launched a focused campaign to assist with hospital bills and medical expenses for COVID-19 patients.
The aim was simple yet urgent to ensure that no life was lost due to the inability to pay for treatment.

An extensive network of volunteers was mobilized to identify families in urgent need. Working closely with local authorities and public hospitals, the Foundation reached households across multiple Indian states where low-income patients were admitted for COVID-19 treatment.
Funds were required immediately and in large amounts. The Foundation launched a massive fundraising campaign, leveraging social media, traditional media, and personal networks to reach donors globally.
Stories of patients and their families were shared to humanize the crisis highlighting individuals who had lost income and were fighting not just a virus, but financial ruin.
The response was overwhelming. Donations flowed in from individuals, corporations, and philanthropists worldwide, united by compassion and urgency.
